Mid-Century Ib Kofod-Larsen for Selig Danish Modern Teak High-Back Lounge Chair – Original Black Leather, 1960s

$3,500.00

Authentic mid-century Danish Modern lounge chair designed by Ib Kofod-Larsen for Selig, circa 1960s.

30" W × 31.5" D × 30" H.

This distinctive high-back lounge chair features a beautifully sculpted solid teak frame, slender tapered legs and elegantly shaped arms characteristic of Kofod-Larsen’s Scandinavian designs.

The most striking feature is the chair’s exposed rear suspension system, consisting of a series of horizontal loop-coil springs supporting the high back cushion. The open spring construction is both functional and visually architectural, and is a recognized feature of this particular Kofod-Larsen/Selig design.

The chair retains its original black leather seat and back cushions, with button tufting and an attractive naturally aged patina. The leather shows creasing and wear consistent with decades of use, giving the chair an authentic vintage character.

The warm reddish teak contrasts beautifully with the black leather and metal spring system, making this an exceptional statement chair for a Mid-Century Modern, Scandinavian Modern or contemporary interior.
